Erin Kay is a mixed media and oil painting artist currently based in Tampa Bay, Florida. Heavily influenced by her dual citizenship (US and Dutch) and her extensive travels, she is a global citizen whose work speaks to wanderers and dreamers alike. Erin’s work is inspired by her experiences living and traveling in different places, and the people she has met along the way. Her art reflects an appreciation for both the familiar and the unknown, inviting viewers to connect with her journey and explore new perspectives. Erin pours her passion for exploration and storytelling into each piece.
Her artistic journey began early, driven by a passion that led her to study Music at the University of New Mexico and earn a certificate in Web Design. Painting became Erin's refuge during her high school years, a means to escape and explore the scenes she longed to experience firsthand. Unable to travel extensively at the time, her paintings became windows to distant landscapes and inner exploration.
Outside of painting, Erin enjoys exploring new places and spending time with her rabbit, Oreo, who keeps her company in the studio.
Artist Statement
My work is a visual expression of outer and inner exploration, journeys taken, and the powerful connections I feel to the world around me. Through my art, I aim to create pieces that invite viewers to reflect, discover, and connect with the untamed beauty of nature and the abstract landscapes that echo personal and shared human experiences.
I am a traveler, and my art reflects the world I have created for myself. My art is heavily influenced by the multiple countries, cultures, and landscapes I have experienced. These experiences shape a unique perspective blending wanderlust and the self-discovery experienced in seeing the world.
My hope is to create art that inspires, empowers, and provokes thought—inviting each viewer to explore the intersections of strength, vulnerability, and the boundless potential of imagination.
